The Project Kickoff: Fall in a College Town

As many of you know, I am a student at Baylor University in Waco, Texas.  Currently, the Baylor Bears football team is ranked #2 in the nation, so much of my time on the weekends is spent watching football and keeping up with scores around the nation.  However, I like to find things to do outside of football during the fall.  My latest adventure in Waco, was to Homestead Heritage. It is a religious community that has their own farm and specialty shops.  They have pottery, wood working, quilting, weaving, basket making, and many more things.  Their cafe is also delicious and their food is organic and home-grown.  The staff is friendly, accommodating, and passionate about their work.  For anyone who enjoys hand-made products and crafts, this place is definitely for you.  Another great aspect of Homestead Heritage is that it is away from the main city of Waco and feels far away from town.  It is a refreshing and relaxing adventure that is sure to be enjoyed by all.

Another great way to enjoy the weekend or a day off of class is by taking time for yourself and getting outside.  The temperatures are finally getting cooler down here in Waco, which makes for excellent walking weather with friends.  I know for many students, life is hectic and getting outside for 20 minutes can even change the trajectory of a day.

I encourage you to take time for yourself and try something new, it could be just the right medicine.
